Housing Needs Report – What’s Missing and Why It Matters

Harrison’s Housing Needs Report is not a professional housing analysis. Unlike most BC communities, the Village did not use a certified planner or outside consultant. The report lists no author, no credentials, and no methodology.

A proper Housing Needs Report normally includes:

  • Population and demographic projections

  • Income and affordability analysis

  • Rental market data

  • Housing stock and condition

  • Future housing demand modelling

  • Land-use and infrastructure capacity

  • Public or stakeholder input

Harrison’s report contains none of these. It is a basic internal summary, not a complete planning document. Without real data or modelling, it cannot reliably guide zoning, density, or long-term growth decisions.

Residents deserve housing policy built on facts and transparent analysis — not vague assumptions.
